I usually don't go to these settings as it will usually connect as long as you have the right E. I have made sure that "Enable IEEE 802.1x authentication" box unchecked in the Authentication TAB? I think there must be an issue with the router's encryption (WPA) and the USB adapter being able to connect to this encryption.

The wireless keeps trying to "validating identity" and states it is missing a certificate. The router just had all settings wiped out, there is no security setup, you just did a fresh install of the drivers and it connects at your place. If it doesn't, uninstall the wireless card from Device manager and reboot.

The MAC address of that PC is used by Comcast to get your connection. On the back of the router, there is a reset button.

Yesterday I reformatted a friends computer and reinstalled the OS and other software at my house. I brought her laptop and router to my house and it works fine. I tried to install the disc that came with the router, but it said something like the IP address wasn't static and I needed to imput the blah blah blah. In most of the home wireless networks, authentication may not be uses.

I would also like to recommend you the same thing as it was posted before by Snake08 but in addition to that post if that is not working then you can try to add the network manually.

There you have to uncheck the top box "Enable IEEE 802.1x authentication for this network".

This will assume that you are not using the authentication at all.
